A Westminster Guarantee is issued through an approved contractor carrying out work to the highest recognized standard - BS6576 in the case of installation of a damp proof course and the British Wood Preserving and Damp Proofing Association Codes of Practice for other remedial treatments. This provides you, the client, with the security of knowing that in the case of a valid claim against recurrence of the original problem and in the event of the approved contractor going out of business or retiring, Westminster Guarantee Protection (Trustees) Ltd will undertake for the necessary re-treatment works (including re-plastering if applicable)to be carried out at no additional cost to the householder. The guarantee remains valid irrespective of any transfer of ownership of the property within the unexpired period of cover.

The Westminster 30 Year Protected Guarantee is issued for a small one off premium payment. There is no minimum charge for small areas of work. This can be a considerable cost saving to you the customer.

The fundamental strength of a Westminster 30 Year Protected Guarantee is that it is issued entirely independently of both the Chemical Manufacturing Company and the Approved Contractor. It does not rely on renewal premiums having to be paid to insurance/underwriting companies for continued cover.

In order for the remedial treatment company to take advantage of the Westminster Guarantee Scheme it must be a registered Approved Contractor and therby indicate an ability to comply with the high quality workmanship set by both British Standard 6576 and the British Wood Preserving and Damp Proofing Association Codes of Practice. The Westminster 30 Year Protected Guarantee has been accepted for many years by specifying bodies i.e. Architects, Building Societies, Local Authorities, Housing Associations, etc.
